My research on animals in danger of extinction and what the human body can feel, remember, intuit or emerge when confronted with this subject is a continuation and final development of my project prior to this “Illusion of memory”, where my theme was the disappearance of bodies in the rivers of Colombia due to the armed conflict. From here I felt the need to expand to other species and other themes, still related to disappearance or extinction.

The first period of research I carried out in Berlin, in the Uferstudios, where I focused more on the exploration of movement and qualities by evoking in myself certain animal species that I chose with more and more accuracy: jaguar, Andean bear, sea turtle and condor. All these species are endangered in South America.

The second stage of this research was elaborated in a residence in Guayaquil, Ecuador, sponsored by the German Cultural Center and the dance festival “Fragments of June” in that city. The result of this residency was exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art MAAC in Guayaquil in June 2019.

Mi investigación en animales en via de extinción y lo que el cuerpo humano puede sentir, recordar, intuir o aflorar al confrontarse con este tema es una continuación y desarrollo final de mi proyecto anterior a este “Illusion of memory”, donde mi tema fué la desaparición de cuerpos en los rios de Colombia por causa del conflicto armado. A partir de aqui sentí la necesidad de expandirme a otras especies y a otras temáticas, aún asi relacionadas con la desparición o extinción.

Un primer periodo de investigación lo realicé en Berlin, en los Uferstudios, en donde mas que nada me centré en exploración de movimiento y cualidades al evocar en mi ciertas especies animales que fuí escogiendo cada vez con más exactitud: jaguar, oso andino, tortuga marina y cóndor. Todas estas especies vienen en peligro de extinción en Suramérica.

La segunda etapa de esta investigación la elaboré en una residencia en Guayaquil, Ecuador auspiciada por el Centro Cultural Alemaán y el festival de danza “Fragmentos de Junio” de dicha ciudad. El resultado de esta residencia fué exhibido en el Museo de arte contemporáneo MAAC de Guayaquil en Junio del 2019.
